DeKalb District Lay Leadership Training

Welcome! This coming new year, join us for an enlightening and insightful leadership event for the DeKalb District.  Our new Bishop, Saly Dyck will be our Keynote Speaker.  She is an advocate for the United Methodist Church's Imagine No Malaria effort which is working to end preventable deaths from this disease in Africa.  "I look forward to discovering how the NIC can be a part of the partnership in eliminating death from the poverty-related disease of malaria," she said.  "I hope we can make a significant contribution to the effort."
Just a few short years ago, statistics showed a child died every 30 seconds of malaria.  Today, because of your dedicated and generous support, malarias impact has been cut in half.  According to the World Health Organization (World Malaria Report 2011), this disease now claims a life every 60 seconds.  Obviously, we need to seek to end all preventable deaths from malaria, so our journey continues...
